Psychopathy is a rare affliction that can significantly impact those around them, despite affecting only a small percentage of the population. While some of the most notorious psychopaths, such as Ted Bundy or Charles Manson, are well known, there are many
others whose crimes have gone unnoticed. In this blog post, we will introduce you to ten of these lesser-known psychopaths.

10. Robert Hansen

One of these individuals is Robert Hansen, nicknamed “Butcher Baker”. He was a serial killer who operated in Alaska during the 1970s and 1980s, abducting young women and hunting them like animals in remote areas. Though he was convicted of four murders, it is believed he may have committed many more.

9. Israel Keyes

Another psychopath is Israel Keyes, a serial killer who travelled across the United States and committed murders randomly. He was extremely methodical in his planning, burying “kill kits” in isolated areas so he could commit murder at any time. He was finally caught
after killing a young woman in Alaska.

8. Jane Toppan

Jane Toppan was a psychopathic nurse who admitted to killing 31 people by injecting them with lethal drugs and then lying in bed with them as they died. She confessed to doing this due to a sexual fetish she had. She was committed to a mental institution for the rest of her life, where she admitted to saying she wished to kill more people than anyone in history.

7. Richard Kuklinski

Richard Kuklinski or the “Iceman” was a Mafia hitman who claimed to have killed over 200 people. He was notorious for his brutal methods of killing, such as tying a victim in a cave and have starving rats eat the man alive, whilst recording every second of it. Kuklinski was eventually caught and sentenced to life in prison.

6. Dennis Nilsen

Scottish serial killer and psychopath Dennis Nilsen murdered at least 12 young men between 1978 and 1983, keeping their bodies in his apartment for extended periods. He even tried to “resurrect” some of them by pouring boiling water into their bodies. He eventually got caught when he was trying to dispose of a victims remains down a toilet, thus blocking his pipes. He called out a drain company and an employee noticed the remains and immediately called the police.

5. Martha Beck & Raymond Fernandez

Martha Beck was a serial killer who operated with her partner, Raymond Fernandez, in the 1940s and are suspected to have killed up to 20 victims. They were named the Lonely Hearts Killers as they would put ads out in newspapers, saying they were lonely in order to arrange meetings with victims, were they would then murder them and dispose of their bodies.

They were eventually caught when the psychopaths were staying with a single mum and her two year old daughter they had met through the lonely hearts column. They ended up killing the mother and due to the child’s incessant crying Beck drowned the two year old in a sink basin full of water. Suspicious neighbours reported the disappearance of mom & daughter and police caught up to the killers, were they were eventually executed.

4. Leonard Lake & Charles Ng

Leonard Lake and Charles Ng were a pair of serial killers and psychopaths who operated in Northern California in the 1980s, abducting women and families, keeping them prisoner in a bunker they had built. They are believed to have killed at least 11 people.

3. Mary Bell

Mary Bell was a British child killer who committed her crimes when she was only 10 years old. She strangled two young boys, and her case became infamous in the UK. After serving time in prison, were she was diagnosed by psychiatrists as having Psychopathic Personality Disorder, she was released at age 23 and has lived under a pseudonym since then.

2. Niels Högel

Niels Högel is a German psychopath, serial murderer and ex-nurse who was first given a life sentence for the killings of six patients before being found guilty of an additional 85 murders, making him the most prolific serial killer in the country’s history during peacetime.

Between 1999 and 2005, his modus operandi involved giving patients in his care fatal amounts of heart medication. According to the prosecution, he would attack victims in an effort to impress colleagues before attempting to revive them. Högel’s murderous rampage was put an end in 2005 when he was apprehended while giving a patient medication that wasn’t prescribed.

1. Gilles de Rais

Gilles de Rais was a 15th Century Psychopath you probably haven’t heard about. He was a French nobleman, and a soldier who served as Joan of Arcs right hand man during the Hundred Years War and had a distinguished, and you might even say illustrious career. However this is washed away by the fact that he had committed over a hundred child murders in his home town. Due to an ecclesiastical investigation, he was caught, condemned and executed.
